Janotta & Herner has completed construction of the new Camden Township Fire Department, located at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and State Route 99 in Kipton, Ohio. The new 10,000-square-foot facility was designed to enhance emergency response capabilities while providing a modern, functional home for the township’s volunteer fire department.
When Camden Township began planning for a new fire station, they selected Janotta & Herner as the design-build general contractor to bring their vision to life. The goal was to create a facility that would provide safe storage for fire apparatus and equipment while serving as a central hub for volunteer firefighters to train, collaborate, and better serve the community.
Prior to construction, the department operated out of a retrofitted church that no longer met the demands of modern emergency response. Limited apparatus storage, outdated infrastructure, and insufficient training space highlighted the need for a new facility that could better support the department’s operations and future growth.
Working closely with township officials, Janotta & Herner evaluated multiple design solutions to achieve the desired functionality and appearance while maintaining cost efficiency. The completed fire station was constructed using a Nucor Building Systems pre-engineered metal building with FALK insulated metal wall panels, creating a durable, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance facility built to withstand the demands of daily emergency operations.
Strategically located at the intersection of two major highways, the new station improves emergency response coverage throughout Camden Township. The facility features modern apparatus bays, updated operational and training areas, administrative offices, a partial mezzanine, and a community emergency storm shelter, providing firefighters with the resources they need while also serving as an important asset for township residents.
The new Camden Township Fire Department represents a significant investment in the safety and future of the community. Designed to support the department’s volunteer firefighters while meeting the evolving needs of the township, the facility will serve as a vital resource for emergency response, training, and community resilience for decades to come.
