Sandusky, Ohio — Janotta & Herner is proud to announce that the Sandusky City Commission has selected our firm as the design-build partner for the new Sandusky Recreation Center. The Commission approved the contract on November 24th, marking a major step forward in bringing this long-planned project to life in Northern Ohio.
The new recreation center is anticipated to be approximately 37,659 square feet and will serve as a year-round hub for wellness, athletics, programming, and community gatherings. Current plans include a gymnasium with two basketball and three volleyball courts, multipurpose activity rooms, fitness and wellness spaces, locker rooms, administrative areas, and an 1/10th mile indoor track. The project will also include associated site improvements such as parking, utilities, and stormwater systems — delivering an important community asset for Northern Ohio residents.
Janotta & Herner is excited to bring this vision to life and looks forward to creating a recreation center that will serve as a welcoming hub for health, wellness, and community activities in Northern Ohio for years to come. The project represents a significant investment in the quality of life for Sandusky residents and demonstrates the City’s commitment to providing modern, accessible spaces for all.
