Janotta & Herner served as the community YMCA’s design-build general contractor for its major capital expansion project in 2022. The project included constructing a new 10,000 SF gymnastics training facility, expanding the parking lot, and renovating more than 20,000 SF of existing space—much of which dated back to the original 1955 building.

All work was completed while keeping the YMCA fully open and operational, requiring strategic planning and careful coordination. Renovations included upgrades to the main entry and lobby, complete remodels of two sets of locker rooms, multiple ADA-compliant restrooms, and refreshed ballet, spinning, and common areas. Executing a project of this size and complexity in an active community facility demanded exceptional communication, phasing, and teamwork. Despite the logistical challenges, the project was a tremendous success, providing the YMCA and its members with modernized, functional, and welcoming spaces that will support their mission for years to come.
